Lok Sabha

The Lok Sabha, also known as the House of the People, is the lower house of the Parliament of India and represents the citizens of the country. Members of the Lok Sabha are directly elected by the people through general elections based on universal adult franchise. The maximum strength of the Lok Sabha is 552 members, out of which up to 530 represent the states and up to 20 represent the Union Territories.

The Lok Sabha plays a crucial role in the legislative process of India. It has significant powers in law-making, financial control, and holding the executive accountable. Money Bills can only be introduced in the Lok Sabha, which makes it more powerful than the Rajya Sabha in financial matters. The tenure of the Lok Sabha is normally five years unless it is dissolved earlier.
